Available Classifications

The observation of mass phenomena, as represented by statistical surveys, always generates a wealth of data that must be condensed in a suitable manner in order to facilitate its presentation and analysis or to make it possible in the first place. For the uniform application of a classification in the collection, processing and analysis of statistical data, the relevant classification rules, which can be found in the respective classification version under the menu item "Preliminary remarks", must be observed in addition to their structure. In the interest of providing internationally comparable statistical data, classifications are now frequently used in national statistical surveys that are based on international or EU-wide standards, or international classifications are even used directly. International classifications can be found in a database of the Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat), which you can access on the Internet at https://op.europa.eu/en/web/eu-vocabularies/eurostat.
